This powerful script will make saving and restoring your MySQL databases as easy as "one-two-three. It is simple and convenient to use and will keep your databases backed up and safe. You can make backup copies of databases in any directory provided by your ISP, or you can back them up on your local computer, or you can upload them to the server. You can email backups to the database owner or to yourself. You can pack and unpack backups automatically. You can store databases backups to an FTP server, you can backup all the databases on your server with one click and much more. Try it for unlimited control of all the backups you created of all your databases.

web installation:

  1. change the first line of backupsmanager.cgi (#!/usr/bin/perl) to match the actual path to your perl executable, if needed. This line should contain symbols "!#" at the beginning of line and the full pathname of your Perl executable.
  2. copy backupsmanager.cgi to any directory where your scripts run (most likely cgi-bin). If you upload files via FTP to a *nix system, ensure that you are uploading it in ASCII mode.
  3. chmod backupsmanager.cgi to 755
  4. open backupsmanager.cgi from your browser and configure it by setting-up variables
  5. click "Save configuration file" after backups manager is configured

installation from command prompt:

  2. copy the new 'backupsmanager.cgi' over the old version of the file
  3. open 'backupsmanager.cgi' in your browser
  4. click "configuration file"
  5. click "Upgrade old version configuration file"
  6. check-the configuration file carefully and fill in any required variables
  7. click "Save configuration file"

command line parameters:
You can run indexsoft MySQL backups manager from the command prompt and use it with cron to have scheduled backups . To get full list of command line switches run 'backupsmanager.cgi' without any parameters or open it in your browser and click the 'command line' link at the bottom of the screen.

For the indexsoft MySQL backups manager to work correctly, it is desirable that your webserver runs scripts with Setuid CGI execution. Otherwise you must change the directory permissions to allow web server reads and writes (Unix users will need to chmod directories to 777).
